The cottage itself had a lovely character, and although some aspects of it were a bit dated, everything was clean and in perfect working order. The location was wonderful, with beautiful views, and it was in close proximity to two pubs. Yvonne, the host, was amazing, checking in on us to make sure we had everything we needed. The arrival gifts and games for the children made our stay more fun. I also appreciated the well-equipped kitchen, great to make our own breakfast. I had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay at Midsummer Barn and would highly recommend it to others.

The location of the hotel was perfect for us as it was a short drive to visit our family. We also enjoyed a delicious family meal at a nearby restaurant. The house itself was spacious and well-equipped, and the garden was a lovely spot to relax. The host was amazing, checking in on us and providing thoughtful touches like a bottle of wine and condiments. The beds were very comfortable and the views from the hotel were breathtaking. It was also convenient to be able to park right outside the property.
We did encounter a few minor issues during our stay. We had difficulty using the tin opener and bottle opener, and had to ask for help.

We had a wonderful stay at this charming countryside retreat. The views were amazing, and the peaceful atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for. The beds were comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The house itself was spacious and well-equipped, with a bottle of wine and condiments for our meals. We especially enjoyed spending time in the beautiful garden with a perfect spot for relaxation. Despite being tucked away in a rural setting, the hotel was conveniently located within a short walk of two pubs, offering a nice balance between solitude and access to amenities. the ample parking right outside the hotel made our arrival and departure hassle-free.
While the hotel was generally well-maintained, we did find it a bit difficult to find and the road leading to it was dated and challenging to navigate. once we arrived, the experience was nothing short of amazing.

I just had my second stay at this amazing barn and I already have a third stay booked. It truly feels like home here. the location is peaceful and offers stunning views. the bedrooms are cozy and tidy, ensuring a comfortable night's sleep. the kitchen is spacious, making meal preparation a breeze. the living room has everything you could possibly need, and there is even a large utility room with an extra toilet. the provided amenities and attention to detail make for a perfect stay. Whether you want to relax in the sunshine outside or go completely off-grid, Midsummer Barn has it all covered. Cons: Nothing could have been better! 🌟.

The location was fantastic for us, with easy access to nearby attractions and the opportunity to visit family. We also had a wonderful family meal at a local restaurant, which was a real treat after not seeing each other for so long. The house itself was spacious and well-equipped, with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We particularly enjoyed spending time in the lovely garden, a great spot to relax and unwind.
One area that could be improved is the number of bathrooms. As a cottage that can accommodate up to 7 people, an additional shower would have been beneficial.

had a great stay at a cozy cottage in Darwen, perfect for family get-togethers. The well-equipped kitchen and lovely garden were a hit with the kids. Hosts even left homemade wine and eggs, a nice touch. Highly recommended and already planning our next visit.
Toilet seat downstairs wouldn't stay up.

My recent stay at Midsummer Barn was perfect. The location was ideal for visiting my family in the nearby valley, and I even had a wonderful family meal at The Dog Inn in the village. The house itself was spacious and well-equipped, with a particularly lovely garden where I could imagine enjoying some peaceful moments. Yvonne, the host, was amazing and made sure that I had everything I needed, including a thoughtful bottle of wine and condiments. The beds were comfortable, and the views from the hotel were amazing. It was such a relaxing and enjoyable rural stay, yet still conveniently close to two pubs within a 15-minute walk. I especially appreciated the easy parking right outside. I highly recommend Midsummer Barn for a good getaway.
